Walking is the simplest and most effective physical exercise that keeps you hale and healthy sans ailments all along the life. The first and foremost benefit of walking in the early hours is a pleasant experience in itself. One can see the breathtaking nature available in the wee hours of the day. This helps increase the amount of dopamine in our body. Walking enhances your mood and better cholesterol ratios. Start walking today if you’re not doing it already!


The studies at Center for Disease Control and Prevention reveal that the heart disease is Number One killer the world over. The studies further show that walking as little as 30 minutes a day can reduce the risk of heart disease by 40 or even more percent. The researchers also reveal that if walking is clubbed with healthy eating and meditation than nothing beats it.

The study further says the mind boggling medical expenditure involved in health care will come down drastically by going for a regular walk. Our own Indian and the world’s first plastic surgeon and the great physician Sushruta and Charak (Great Indian Ayurvedic researchers of Ancient times) also highlighted the benefits of walking in detail. And they explained how good walking exercise could prove with plethora of health benefits.

I am a great walking lover and have walked in many countries on different walking paths. There are various reasons you should walk regularly and the first and the biggest reason for walking is that it is a low impact exercise. There are absolutely no risks of falling or injuries. Walking enables you to see the environment in a leisurely way. It clears the head and takes you out of the world in to a different world.


The second benefit is, while walking you can discuss either with your client or your boss under the open skies which ensures a pleasant atmosphere far better than dazzlingly lit and air conditioned conference rooms. This way you can get the best of the two worlds. Additionally, walking prompts the release of endorphins and serotonin.


Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, and Endorphins are the quartet responsible for our happiness. While walking, if you feel lonely, listen to light music through your earphones. This will make you feel that you were having a company and provide you with a melodious and pleasant environment.

  • Social benefits

It’s a common fact that you come across with new people with different backgrounds while walking. This opens an opportunity to have new relationships. First it starts with a smile, followed by a nod, then verbal wishing ultimately leading to exchange of opinions and views on a wide variety of subjects. And mind it happens while you are still walking. It sure is an enriching experience for your mental health too!

Many people are misguided by myths about walking. They think that walking cannot make you perspire. Hence it hasn’t got the potential to flush away the toxins in the body. It is far from truth. A host of studies established the fact that a brisk walk can lower the blood pressure. Additionally walking enhances your mood and better cholesterol ratios.
